Bowl with Apple - my first studies done in 2003

This canvas is owned by Nancy in Canada and was a journey of discovery for me as I used oils and brush to apply the paint - foregoing my beloved pallet knife - whilst exploring form and the reflective properties of minimal, tonal colour.

A still-life setting was waiting for us one Friday in the Sewell's studio where we met once a week. Monica and I were to paint this with tuition and guidance from both Barbara and Marc. I chose to focus on this smaller cropped image. Later I worked a larger painting from this - see above - which was selected for the annual P.E.G.S. exhibition in my home city.
